Bayesian Methods 1

Bayesian Methods 1

This event will be taking place on the 4th Floor of the Lionel Robbins Building (also known as the PhD Academy), Portugal Street, London. Date: Tuesday 16th May 2017 of a lecture from 10am -12pm and a practical session from 2pm -4pm.

Detailed Description

This workshop introduces students to Bayesian inference and estimation via MCMC.  The morning session will cover the core logic of Bayesian inference, its connection to Maximum Likelihood inference, and how Bayesian inference applies in the context of standard statistical models.  The afternoon lab session will cover estimation by MCMC, including a demonstration of fitting and interpreting standard linear and logistic regression models using Bayesian methods from within R.  This workshop assumes familiarity with applied regression modelling at the level of MY452/552 and, ideally, some experience with the statistical programming language R.
